On February 21, 2022, the Italian Insurance Supervisory Authority (“IVASS”) issued a letter to the market requesting data from insurance companies headquartered in Italy, distributing group health insurance policies and having collected at least 10 million premiums in 2021.
Characteristics of data collection
For collective health insurance contracts, the following information must be provided to IVASS:
a) premiums received in 2021;
b) claims expenses for the 2021 financial year;
c) paid claims and provisions at the end of the 2021 financial year (in particular on Covid-19 claims during the years 2020 and 2021);
d) number of risk units for the financial year 2021.
With regard to collective contracts, the data referred to in point b) above are taken from module 17, while those in point c) of module 28 (excluding Covid-19 data) of IVASS Regulation n. 22 of April 4, 2008.
Information is provided separately for the following insured groups:
- health funds (in accordance with art. 9 of Legislative Decree no. 502/1992), institutions and mutuals;
- other bodies other than those in point 1 above.
The data from point a) above must be sent to IVASS before April 29, 2022, the data from points b) and c) before May 20, 2022.
