Etiqa becomes the first insurance company in Malaysia to introduce cover for electric vehicle home chargers

Etiqa has announced that takaful insurance and coverage for electric vehicle (EV) home chargers is now available in its product portfolio. Cover is available as a free add-on to an Etiqa private car policy or certificate for newly registered battery electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids (PHEVs).

To promote its introduction, the company is offering home wall charger coverage as a free, limited-time add-on to newly registered EV car insurance and takaful policies by March 31, 2023. A standalone coverage for EV home chargers is also available. under comprehensive insurance and takaful plan, this is for EV owners who have purchased an EV home wall charger separately from their new car/takaful insurance.

The EV home charger cover add-on provides reimbursements of up to RM12,000 to replace or repair your EV home charger for loss or damage due to fire, theft (forced and violent entry), lightning , an explosion, explosion or overflow of reservoirs or water pipes, typhoon, storm, earthquake and flood. Car and takaful insurance plans are underwritten by Etiqa General Insurance and Etiqa General Takaful.
