High customer satisfaction rate
After surveying more than 38,000 auto insurance customers, JD Power awarded Amica Auto Insurance the highest award for customer satisfaction among New England area auto insurers in the JD Power study. 2021 on car insurance in the United States.
This is the ninth consecutive year that Amica has won the top award in New England and the 22nd consecutive year that JD Power has recognized Amica for highest customer satisfaction with auto insurers. Amica’s score of 867 out of 1,000 was also 39 points above the regional average.
The study examines customer satisfaction across five factors: billing process and policy information, complaints, interaction, policy offerings, and price.
Wide range of policy discounts
Amica offers a large number of discounts. It offers discounts for bundling auto, home, renters, life, umbrella, etc. It offers discounts to young drivers who complete a driver education program, good students and drivers under 30 whose parents have had policies for at least five years. Amica also offers discounts on how you drive (accident-free training and driving) and discounts on what you drive (anti-theft, forward collision warning, etc.).
Amica was founded in 1907 and is the oldest auto insurance mutual in the United States. AM Best has assigned an A+ (Superior) financial strength rating to Amica Mutual Group. AM Best ratings are based on an insurer’s ability to pay claims, debts and other financial obligations. The higher rating means that Amica has a superior ability to meet its financial obligations and pay its claims.
Amica offers Platinum Choice Auto coverage along with its premium coverage in one package. The package consists of:
- Repair or replacement of windows, without deductible
- Credit monitoring service
- New car replacement coverage that replaces your total new car with a new one. To qualify, your car must be less than a year old and have less than 15,000 miles.
- Prestige rental coverage with no daily limit and a maximum of $5,000 that allows you to rent a car similar to the one you own after it has been damaged in a covered accident
What could be improved
Premiums are higher than many competitors
Amica’s average annual premiums are above the national average. The average annual auto premium is $2,875. Insurance premiums at Amica are about 37% higher at $3,946 per year.
Coverage is not available in all states
The availability, requirements and minimum limits of certain auto coverages vary by state. Amica is primarily well known in the New England area, but does not have a large following outside of the region.
