SafeAuto car insurance

SafeAuto car insurance may be one of the best car insurance companies for high-risk drivers. The company specializes in providing non-standard car insurance for drivers with less than stellar driving histories. Coverage is currently available in 20 states, and the company has a simple online quote system. There is also an online chat function and a support phone number if you need help.

SafeAuto focuses on minimum state coverage, although you can purchase higher liability limits if you need them. However, SafeAuto doesn’t offer liability limits as high as some other car insurance companies, so if you’re looking for a more robust policy, SafeAuto might not be the best choice. You can also add comprehensive coverage and collision coverage, and you may be able to add endorsements like rental car reimbursement or roadside assistance coverage, depending on your state.

SafeAuto car insurance discounts

SafeAuto’s car insurance discounts vary by state, but some of the savings opportunities presented include insuring more than one vehicle, owning and switching your coverage to SafeAuto. These discounts are fairly common, but more unique offers may be available in your state.

SafeAuto Car Services

In addition to auto insurance policies, SafeAuto can also file an SR-22 form for drivers who must have one. The company also offers accident forgiveness coverage. Finally, SafeAuto partners with ForeverCar to provide a vehicle service plan that could help you save money on vehicle maintenance costs.

Methodology

Bankrate uses Quadrant Information Services to analyze 2022 rates for all zip codes and carriers in the 50 states and Washington, D.C. Rates shown are based on 40-year-old male and female owners with clean claim history, a good credit and the following coverage limits:

Auto

  • Civil liability of $100,000 in bodily injury per person
  • Civil liability of $300,000 in bodily injury per accident
  • Civil liability of $50,000 in property damage per accident
  • $100,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per person
  • $300,000 uninsured motorist bodily injury per accident
  • $500 collision deductible
  • $500 aggregate deductible

To determine minimum coverage limits, Bankrate has used a minimum coverage that meets each state’s requirements. Our sample drivers own a 2020 Toyota Camry, commute five days a week, and drive 12,000 miles a year.

Age: Rates were calculated by evaluating our base profile with ages 18-60 (base: 40) applied. Depending on age, drivers can be renters or owners. Age is not a contributing assessment factor in Hawaii and Massachusetts.

Incidents: The rates were calculated by evaluating our baseline profile with the following incidents applied: clean record (baseline), speeding ticket and single fault accident.
